Should You Buy a Crystal Wedding Tiara

There is sometimes confusion over what crystal wedding tiaras are, some people assume I'm referring to a diamante tiara when I'm talking about a crystal tiara, other will think I'm referring to a handmade tiara with quality crystal beads.When I’m referring crystal tiaras I mean a tiara created out of crystal beads, not diamantes or rhinestone..

So why choose a crystal tiara over a diamante one?

If you're looking for cheap and cheerful then a Diamante tiara could be right for you, they're cheaper because they are mass produced.usually imported from china and widely available. If you're budgets very limited they may make the perfect choice for you, but they have some severe disadvantages. for example as they are machine produced there’s no way to change the design for example exchanging the colour of the stones. This is a advantage crystal tiaras have over diamante ones.

If you want to incorporate your wedding colours into your bridal accessories you can with a crystal tiara. I did this myself and created a tiara using crystals that matched the colour of my wedding bouquet.

Crystal tiara designs can also be scaled down, great if you want your bridesmaids to wear tiaras co-ordinating with your own tiara. This would be impossible to do with manufactured diamante tiaras. I've worked with a lot of brides who want matching smaller versions of their tiara for their flower girl. This is only possible with handmade tiaras such as those made with crystal or pearl.

How much should a crystal wedding tiara cost?

Because crystal is expensive, well at least good quality crystal such as Swarovski crystal is and these tiaras are handmade expect to pay roughly between £40 and £100 for a crystal tiara. If you get a crystal tiara really cheap, then it probably hasn't be made with care or quality products. Obviously the more time it takes to make a wedding tiara the more you will pay.

Rules for buying a crystal wedding tiara

There are some general rules when choosing a crystal wedding tiara. When deciding on the height of your crystal tiara ensure it will compliment your face shape. Ensure your tiara will match your other bridal jewellery, many crystal tiaras are available with either silver or gold base and clear or clear AB crystals, so don’t choose an all clear AB tiara then match it with clear crystal jewellery it just won’t look right.
